Get GOvernING

Just about 40 days of govt. and its harsh to assess a Govt. with bare minimum majority. But surely they have not been doing what they should have done. I personally feel they’ve not been let to do what they must. For ages we’ve been seeing the farming community not only Karnataka but also elsewhere in the Nation, crying for adequate supply of sow seeds and fertilizers, but it had not snowballed into a major agitation, with a few of them committing suicide for the same. There are hundreds of protesters in the nation, nowhere do the police fire, forget real bullets they even fear to strike back at a mob, and that too a mob of farmers, and we have a Golibar happening at them. Barely into its seventh day in office the govt was put under a crucible, just give a thought, for nearly 60 years we’ve haven’t seen a change in terms of the governing, and we expect a radical change in 40 days, but with that, our chief minister who took oath in the name of the farmer could do little about the issue as he insisted that the Centre had not supplied the state with fertz… But being a chief minister that should not have been his resolve, poorly for him he is habituated to the politics in the opposition.

It’s agreed that the govt has to fortify itself in terms of the numbers, but to do so it has gone shopping, into the cadres of JD(s) and Cong, and sadly so. But from BJP’s point of it lacks the numbers in the Upper House, so every bill that has to be implemented can be halted at the Upper House, critically impairing the Govt.’s functioning with a hostile governor, things could be difficult for it to function “successfully”. Poorly the Mandate in Karnataka lacks political activism from the people. For many years now it has been the contest of the Gowdas and Lingayats, the two communities which form the electoral majority sway with either Cong and JDs and BJP respectively. Thus Karnataka lacks a multi-partite political scenario unlike the states of TN, AP, UP, Bihar etc… where in case of certain issues the ruling party can expect conditional from minor parties to support at least for certain bills and policies.

But at least now, after the swooping of the opposition MLAs the govt needs to concentrate on building the trust of the people and perform well, Bangalore brings in the revenues and it is the showcase for the state and it must not be neglect, the rural part are the most in need of govt support, and it too must not be neglected, as the CM says, Rural and Urban Development should go hand in hand, with a sense of gratitude towards the mandate.

An Anniversary with the Adversary

Feb 14 th evoked a lot of mixed and vexed emotions in me, not for the reason that I share my first name with the culture honcho Muthalik, but it was exactly a year before this Date, I met ‘HER’…. Yes HER refers to that special someone…. Many of you might know her, she’s pretty famous these days, but what u wouldn’t know is that I’m dating her… No, she’s not BulBul… This post is a Memoir of the bygone year with her, a repertoire of experiences she’s enriched me with… I intended to post on Valentine's Day itself, but because of the demanding nature of hers I was forced to stay away from the internet, and celebrate our anniversary elsewhere. I met her, for the first time on Feb 13 2008, She was at the HR room in the 5 th floor of my office, waiting for me there; after a couple of mins of talk, I sensed we were getting closer, I didn’t expect that it would be such, that she would be mine henceforth. I felt a Déjà vu when I saw her, I felt I had met her befor

Bharatha as I see it..

I’m writing this post, inspired by a whatsapp argument I had with my bunch of friends. I wanted to pen my thoughts independent of an argument cause its easier to be carried away by the heat of the argument and one might misquote or misinterpret one’s understanding of a subject as grey as the Mahabharata. The main issue of contention was that the idea of Kauravas vs the Pandavas, and how the whole of Mahabharatha was biased towards glorifying the Pandavas. My friends also opined that Pandavas had no legal right over the throne of Kuru vamsha.  I would like to clarify that Pandavas never staked claim to the throne of Hastinapur, being valid and rightful Princes of the Kuru vamsha they sought rightful co-existence with the Kauravas. The only rightful character in the whole of Mahabharata after Shantanu who had all the qualities of a King but choose to forego the same over a promise he had made to his father and step-mother Bhishma was supposed to take care of both Dritharastra’s and

Life in a Belly!!

We are gifted unlike other animals to perform different tasks that are beyond our natural abilities and habitat and also live a life out the physical, mental, geographical and intellectual boundaries of birth. We basically have an option to live a life and adopt a lifestyle that we wish to, unlike our lesser privileged subordinates of the evolution tree. We can be a fish that swims; an ape that jumps; a bird that flies or a bull that tows and tugs, and drive by this need or feel we are or we wish to be something and somebody our body and mind is comfortable with, and it should remain so. Animals on the other hand do not enjoy this freedom, they are anatomical and physically of the same build, and irrespective of their emotional need they are bound be restricted by certain limitations of their physiology. There are no skinny elephants, or fat lions or furry lizards, unless of course their geographical and evolutionary needs drive them to mutate into another species altogether.
